Allu Arjun issue: NHRC aks police why lathi-charge was resorted to

In connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, an advocate named Rama Rao Immaneni recently filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission, stating that the police resorting to a lathi-charge and their inadequate preparations resulted in the death of Revathi (35) and the injury of her 9-year-old son Sri Teja.

The news is that the NHRC has now sought a response from the City Commissioner of Police. A high-ranking police officer must be assigned to study the incident and a report must be filed within four weeks. Reports say that the CP and the DGP of Hyderabad are seized of the matter.

So far, the government and the police have pointed fingers at Allu Arjun, holding him responsible for the stampede. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy accused the actor of causing the chaos while speaking on the floor of the Assembly. Allu Arjun, on his part, hasn't accused the police of not performing their duty. His lawyer, Niranjan Reddy, however, said that the cops didn't control the crowds on the ground floor because they were busy trying to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun on the top floor.
