Director Venky Kudumula stares at an uncertain future in the Telugu film industry. His first two movies, Chalo and Bheeshma, were hits.
After the success of Bheeshma in 2020, for more than 1.5 years, Venky dreamt of directing Megastar Chiranjeevi. Although he wrote a script for the actor, the latter didn't approve of it. Since Chiru was not excited to do the film, all the effort put in by Venky went down the drain.
That's when Venky teamed up with Nithiin, once again. Robinhood should have been released a year ago had everything worked out for him and Nithiin in time. The duo and Mythri Movie Makers gave the project enough time in order not to compromise on quality. Sadly for them, nobody is talking about the making values in Robinhood. Looks wise, the film is actually less shiny than Bheeshma was.
What next for Venky? At a time when Tier-2 heroes have become unreliable (their market has been on shaky grounds since the pandemic), Venky Kudumula's options are limited. Venky Atluri hasn't been working with Telugu heroes for years now. The other Venky, too, might want to team up with a Tamil hero next.
