The success meet of super star Mahesh Babu’s ‘Dookudu’ was held at Novotel Hotel on October 10th evening. Directed by Srinu Vaitla and produced by Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara under 14 Reels Entertainments banner, the film was released on September 23rd. G Ramesh Babu was the presenter of the film. On the eve of the success of his latest film ‘Dookudu’, super star Mahesh Babu spoke to the media and shared his happiness. Here are some excerpts:
About Dookudu: ‘Dookudu’ is a universal subject and this is the first of its kind film in which the viewers will find complete entertainment in a revenge formula film. ‘Dookudu’ success has brought me out from ‘Pokiri’ image. I’m now happy that I’ve no particular image. The Telugu film industry is very happy to note the success of ‘Dookudu’.
First compliment: After the film’s release, I received the first compliment from my father. I was with Sreenu Vaitla in the car when my dad called him up and said that the movie is sure to collect Rs 80 crores. I was shocked about his prediction.
On his success prediction: Yes, we knew that the film would become a blockbuster film but we never predicted that the film would create all time record in Telugu film industry. There is no stopping for fans’ pleasure. They started hungama started two to three days before the release of the film. All are very happy with the results.
About how Dookudu happened: Initially I was a little tensed when I heard the script because this character is also related to police. But Sreenu convinced me by saying not to worry about that. As the shooting progressed he told me that I’ve to wear the police dress in the climax scene. He also added many scenes later, which were not discussed initially.
Difference between Pokiri and Dookudu: There is lot of difference between ‘Pokiri’ and ‘Dookudu’. In ‘Pokiri’ the hero will dominate the entire film whereas in ‘Dookudu’ prominence is given to all characters.
On his role in Dookudu: My character in ‘Dookudu’ has three different shades. These kind of characters rarely occur and one cannot be waiting for such characters. It took about two to three days for me to completely involve myself into that character. Later I managed it with great ease. This is the first time I did comedy in the major part of the film. Puri Jagannath commented that I surpassed Brahmanandam in few scenes. Similarly Rajamouli too appreciated.
About the heroine: Samantha is a very good artist. She has a good future. If the heroine’s role is enlarged in this film, then the film will be prolonged to 4 hours.
About producers: The producers of ‘Dookudu’ have good taste in films and are good planners. Credit goes to them for success of ‘Dookudu’ because it is only due to their pakka planning and publicity. I’m planning to do one more film under this banner in Sukumar’s direction.
About his future projects: Yes, I’ll definitely do many more films with Sreenu Vaitla. Right now the shooting of ‘The Businessman’ is progressing at a fast pace. Efforts are being made to release the film on January 12th. I would be doing 3 films next year.
About his rapport with Venkatesh: I’m very happy for doing a multi-starrer film with Venky. He is a responsible hero. We are both very close to each other. We are going to be seen as brothers. Srikanth Addala penned excellent script.
