Youthful romantic flick ‘Anthaku Mundu Aa Taruvatha’ was released last week and is being screened successful in all its centres. Upcoming actor S/O M S Raju, Sumanth Ashwin has paired up with a fresh face Eesha, a Telugu girl from Hyderabad, who was discovered by director Indraganti Mohan Krishna. Damodhar Prasad produced this beautiful love entertainer with music by Kalyan Koduri. On the eve of the film’s success, hero Sumanth Ashwin shared his happiness during a small chit-chat with the media. Here are few excerpts:
Hello Sumanth, what sort of feedback have you received from the people over the film?
I’m very glad to note that ‘Anthaku Mundu Aa Taruvatha’ is receiving good response right from the morning show of release day. We received many calls from abroad. We got clarity about the film’s success through audience’s response on Saturday evening. We have even visited few theaters and noticed audiences enjoying the film. Many have opined that they enjoyed the comedy in second half. Our film proved that we a film with sensitive subject is executed properly, the Telugu audiences will definitely enjoy it. I’m proud to be part of a good film. There is ample scope of increase in more number of good films provided films of this kind receive good response.
Your determination was great. We also learned that you have been picked up for this role mainly because you were apt to the film. Has it given you the confidence that you need?
I’m thankful to Mohan Krishna garu for believing and selecting me saying that I’m apt for this subject. The audience would not have accepted it, if the story had not been handled in a convincing manner. The main attraction was how the director dealt with the story. Producer Dhamu garu is another reason for the film’s success because he was the one who came forward and produced it without any compromise. The entire credit goes to director and producer.
Tell us about this film from technical point of view.
The film is receiving good response for its music as well as cinematography. In general no one will mention about the art direction in their reviews. However, this film has become an exception in it.
What professional advice did your dad offer you?
Dad truly believed Mohan garu and never got himself involved in the story till end. After watching this film my dad appreciated my performance, expressions and of course screenplay too. Sky is only the limit for his happiness.
Your assessment of box-office collections due to Seemandhra agitations?
Yes, shows got cancelled in few areas. Nevertheless the theaters were houseful for evening show and second show. The audience will always watch it if the film generates good craze.
You are currently doing ‘Lovers’ under Maruthi’s banner. Is that also going to have Maruthi’s brand attached to it?
There is no connection between the story and Maruthi. His ‘Prema Katha Chitram’ was a wholesome entertainer. So taking that as example I accepted to do this film. I’ll not act in any film that is related to vulgarity because for me, the family audiences are as important as the youth audience.
What are your next plans?
My next plans are to do a film under Teja garu direction. I’ve even heard stories from another three directors. So I’ll reveal the details of those after completion of story discussion. There is also one film under dad’s direction, but we are unsure when it will take place.
Lastly, having come from producer’s family, your assessment of heroes’ attitude on sets?
I’m aware of problems in producing a film. I’m also aware about few lakhs of rupees to the producer if the hero is late by an hour. I know that to be an actor means a lot of responsibilities. Hence I will never do anything that creates problems to producers.
