'Gaali Sampath' will release on March 11. Starring Rajendra Prasad, Sree Vishnu and Lovely Singh, the film has the screenplay and dialogue by Anil Ravipudi. In this interview, Anil talks about the film, what makes it unique, his upcoming directorial 'F3' and more.
'Gaali Sampath' began with S Krishna writing a storyline. Krishna has been a co-writer who has worked on my movies over the years. Rajendra Prasad garu's character gets trapped in a deep pit in the second half. There are a few international movies with a similar premise.
I worked as a direction supervisor during the making of the second half. I had worked on the screenplay, especially the scenes involving Nature and the lead pair. Nature is shown in the form of rain and it has a special rapport with RP garu's character.
There is no social message in the movie. The father and his son (played by Sree Vishnu) choose different paths in life. The emotions and dialogues are spun around this reality. The first half is entertaining, but the second half has got serious scenes.
Anish has done 'Ala Ela' before and it was a comedy. My forte, too, is comedy. The story is strong enough to balance both comedy and sentiment/emotions. The love track is also blended with the father-son track. The story takes place in Araku, the hill station.
RP garu has given a superb performance. The dubbing video we recently released went viral.
Achu Rajamani's music is a surprise package. The BGM had to be special because of the nature of the story. I was skeptical about how Achu's music might work in the second half. He has surprised me with his output.
'Gaali Sampath' is already a safe project. I don't know about the figures, though.
I like all genres. I am open to supporting directors/writers who come up with interesting storylines.
'F3' is going to be about money, not wives. We have shot for 22 days. It's not a sequel. It's a new story. It's like the 'Golmaal' series. The characterizations are similar but the situations are new.
I have wanted to work with Ram. There may come a day when it will happen. I have nothing in mind as of now until 'F2' is completed. As for a film with Mahesh Babu garu, nothing can be said as of now. I am yet to meet with him.
Regarding the rumour that I have bought a luxurious villa, all that I can say is that a good house is anyone's dream. I have bought a nice house to make my wife and children happy!
I have a female-oriented story in mind. I will wait for the right time to make that movie, among others. I happened to narrate a story to Sai Pallavi years ago. But I may do the film with someone else depending on the situation.
If I were to remake a film of mine in Bollywood, I would remake 'Pataas'. More than the story, I like its situations and characterizations. I would like to cast Hrithik Roshan in the remake if I get a chance.
