Hyderabad Marriott Artist profile:
Dr.Snehalata Prasad (b.1976) is a prolific artist who appears to you as one who is in absolute control over her medium. A native of Rajasthan, Sneha carries in her the profound fragrance of that magical land. Having adopted Hyderabad as her home, she spreads that fragrance through her magical creations, be it painting or sculptures or graphic art. Having done her Ph.D in Fine Arts, Sneha has gone through the entire grind that an artist of her caliber has to bear. The outcome of that is revealed through her achievements. Her paintings adorn the magnificent galleries of the Lalit Kala Academies of Jaipur and New Delhi. She is the recipient of the highest award of Rajasthan on Art from the Lalit Kala Academy. She has done dozens of solo shows all over the country. Her clientele encompasses an international profile of hundreds of individuals and a large number of corporate houses. And the patrons of her Art are countless. She loves the grandeur of the work of painting. Being the daughter of Rajasthan - the magnificent land of grandeurs and ever changing dunes, Sneha carries that rhetoric in her Paintings. Her canvas is usually big. Her themes are of humanity, compassion, love and beauty. This exhibition in an extension of Sneha’s such magnificence.
Radha and Krishna has been an ever enduring myth of love through the Indian psyche over millenniums. Different people have different interpretations of this theme which is so deeply embedded in our culture. Sneha in this show is exhibiting her own interpretation of the Radha and Krishna myth through her canvas. The striking feature in this show is the way Sneha covers Nature as the backdrop to this theme. Sneha is a master in most of the genres of painting - be it realism, impressionism, expressionism, surrealism or even abstract. She has used a number idioms in this show which comes forth as a picture story of an emotional journey of the Artist though the theme of Radha and Krishna. Each of Sneha’s paintings contributes to the continuity of this theme at the same time retaining its uniqueness as individual work of art. This is one unique feature of Sneha’s exhibition. The flora and fauna of Nature in their expression of the Artist give thematic support to the central theme of the exhibition. While providing a visual splendour of immense artistic value, they also provide the innate philosophical and spiritual discourse of the central theme. In a way each piece invokes the devotional, the spiritual, the connoisseur of art and even the mere passersby.
With this show, Sneha has taken her Art to another orbit. A journey into the spiritual, the devotional, and through that route a journey into the collective human psyche. It is a very bold statement. A statement of an Artist who takes her work very seriously and regards her viewers and the discerning lovers of her work with high esteem and loves to confront us with more and more visual opulence time and again.
