When 'Salaar' was announced in 2021, there were rumours that Prashanth Neel would be revisiting 'Ugramm' (Kannada). The same has been confirmed by the director himself ahead of the release of the pan-Indian Prabhas-starring behemoth.
In his latest interview, Neel said that the film's story has been drawn from the source material called 'Ugramm', his debut movie that was released in 2014. At that time, Neel wanted to do its sequel but got caught up with the two 'KGF' movies. 'Salaar' has some story elements mined from 'Ugramm'. It goes beyond that film, though.
"'Salaar' is a unique blend of Ugramm's story and KGF's style," Neel has been quoted as saying.
This is the kind of admission nobody saw coming. Neel had planned to keep the secret intact till just a day before the release of 'Salaar'. He probably didn't want to kill the excitement factor. Now that the Release Trailer, unveiled last week, has been a big hit, he has confidently given away the secret.
