Prashanth Neel has rebuffed the rumour that 'Salaar' belongs to a larger cinematic universe and that it is connected to the 'KGF' franchise. The filmmaker, in his latest interview, made it clear that he is incapable of making such "connections".
Interestingly, Neel said that he couldn't have opted to make 'Salaar' as a cinematic universe film when the hero is someone like Prabhas, a "big star". This is quite an important admission.
Lokesh Kanagaraj has built a universe by including a superstar like Thalapathy Vijay and a genius actor like Kamal Haasan. This is a big deal in itself. Platforming actors like Suriya, Karthi and Fahadh Faasil, who are not behemoths, required lesser guts (the vision is awesome but having guts is a different ability). And even Vijay is not as huge as Prabhas.
Kanagaraj won't be making his Prabhas movie as part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. So, it is safe to assume that Neel and Kanagaraj are on the same page.
In Hindi, the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Salman Khan have joined hands for a larger cinematic universe. Bollywood, with lesser gestation time for projects, has more appetite for such adventures.
