Thandel will be played with hiked ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh. Through a Government Order passed on the request by Geetha Arts, the administration has allowed exhibitors to charge Rs 50 (for single screens) and Rs 75 (for multiplexes) over and above the existing admission rates. There is no hike in Telangana as per the government policy following the Pushpa 2 fracas.
Movie buffs on social media are mildly shocked. Usually, ticket rate hikes are sought for big-hero movies. Thandel is not.
Geetha Arts sought permission for hikes based on the budget. The film's budget allegedly shot up by Rs 15 Cr in the last 2 months. The total budget is Rs 90 Cr. Although the makers have mopped up extraordinary figures from non-theatrical deals, there is a lot riding on the film's theatrical success. Considering that Thandel's chances are weak in Hindi and Tamil markets, they are counting on the Telugu market.
Thandel, co-starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, heads to theatres on February 7.
