A couple of days after the release of Thandel on February 7th, producer Bunny Vas spoke publicly about pirates bringing out a HD print of his movie. He hosted a much-publicized press meet to warn those who targeted Thandel through piracy.
But the press meet ended up giving free publicity to Thandel's piracy prints, letting lakhs of people know about its existence in the first place! "I shouldn't have done that. The press meet affected Thandel negatively. I regretted calling for that press meet," producer Bunny Vas has said.
Thandel was claimed to have grossed Rs 105 Cr but the actual collections hover around Rs 75 Cr. Bunny Vas didn't elaborate on the alleged overstating of the collections. Instead of answering the question, he dodged it with a joke, saying he would reveal everything if the media paid his taxes.
Thandel stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, it arrives on Netflix on March 7th.
