Ahead of the release of 'Bhaje Vaayu Vegam' on May 31, debutant director Prashanth Reddy says that the film's story is not predictable. He talks about the film's strengths and tries to dispel certain presumptions based on its Trailer.
With a running time of 130 minutes (excluding Ads and titles), the Kartikeya Gummakonda-starrer has Iswarya Menon as the heroine. The film is presented by UV Creations and produced by UV Concepts.
I worked in the direction departments for 'Run Raja Run' and 'Saaho'. 'BVV' was pitched to Kartikeya during the Covid-19. He completed the shoot of two movies before joining mine. After completing most of the film, he had to dedicate his time to 'Bedurulanka 2012'. That's why the delay. A hard disk issue also delayed the Editing process. Work that took 2.5 months got destroyed in the process. The entire film had to be re-edited. That's another reason for the delay.
Just because the film has a father-son angle at its centre, it can't be called old-school. Towards the end of the trailer, Rahul Tyson's character tells Kartikeya's character that he is the actual son. This is not a twist. This is an early scene in the movie. I will be able to discuss more only after the movie's release. The trailer hasn't shown anything. Rahul's is the next most important character after the male lead.
The title was figured out at the end. The second half is so pacy that a title that sounds like the word 'speed' would be the aptest. I didn't want an English title. The second half is devoid of any songs. Every scene has got an excellent tempo and a befitting background score. I can guarantee that 'BVV' is unique.
Those who migrate to metros in search of dreams have their own fears and insecurities. The male lead in 'BVV' is challenged by circumstances. You become a hero to your family members only after you become an achiever. As such, 'BVV' is not a hero's story. I enjoy watching male protagonists who dream big. Tanikella Bharani garu has played the father's role. Iswarya Menon is a fresh face. Her character needed someone with no image. She comes from a locality where sarees and half-sarees are spun traditionally.
As someone from a small-town background, to me, films have to have an emotional quotient.
I was inspired by the shoot of 'Sye' in our hometown. I am not qualified enough to talk about Rajamouli garu. Practical experience is the best experience. Once you start executing a project, you get to learn by making mistakes. Filmmaking is a multi-stage endeavour. You shouldn't freeze if you have made a mistake at some stage. There is scope for improvement and rectification in the next stage.
I am glad that Chiranjeevi garu and Mahesh Babu garu have supported our movie. Sujeeth (the director of 'Saaho' fame) chit-chatting with Kartikeya has also helped because he spoke on 'OG' during the tete-a-tete. Pawan Kalyan garu's fans are thanking him for giving updates related to 'OG'.
I have four or five storylines in mind. Depending on how 'BVV' is received, I will take up the subject that the audience think would suit my strength.
