Ahead of the release of the Marvel movie, Thunderbolts, first reactions by those who have watched its test screenings are doing the rounds. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this one is the 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film will hit the cinemas on May 2nd.
Starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the film is said to be the best MCU movie in years. Its first test screenings were held in November 2024. After mixed feedback from the alpha audience, reshoots were held.
Specific performances have been lauded. Lewis Pullman will be seen as a superpowered individual who suffers from amnesia. "I think we're gonna see a lot of talk about the star material of Lewis Pullman after Thunderbolts, and I hope it makes everyone remember or revisit his tremendous work in Bad Times at The El Royale," a Twitter user wrote.
But many are skeptical about the caliber of the movie. "Marvel is on such an intense losing streak that even a smidge of competent filmmaking makes people think it’ll be a masterpiece," another movie buff added.
Thunderbolts is projected to have a $63–77 million opening weekend in the US.
