'Acharya' was washed out in theatres. On the other hand, 'RRR' became a massive hit.
For a change, the Chiranjeevi-starrer now looks to have a brighter future than the Rajamouli directorial. Just look at what is on the platter in terms of their OTT release. Both films are going to be out on two different OTT platforms on May 20.
Amazon Prime Video will be streaming 'Acharya' at NO additional cost. If you are a user of Prime, you have access to the Koratala Siva directorial automatically.
But the case is different with 'RRR'. ZEE5 is not offering the Jr NTR-Ram Charan starrer for free. You have to pay something like Rs 200 (or a less if you are subscribing ZEE5 for the first time) to watch it. 'RRR' is being offered as T-VOD content. The Video-on-Demand or pay-per-view model has been adopted by ZEE5 to maximize its revenue from 'RRR'.
Going by how Netizens are reacting to ZEE5's decision, it seems many are going to wait for the day when 'RRR' will be made available for regular subscribers for no additional cost. That might happen a month after May 20.
In comparison, 'Acharya' looks poised to get better traction. It is another matter that no OTT platform would be foolish enough to try a VOD model with a dud like 'Acharya'.
