'Darling' stars Priyadarshi in the role of a 'bharya bhadhithudu'. Henpecked/harassed male lead is a stock character revived in recent times by Anil Ravipudi's 'F2' and 'F3'.
'Darling', though, doesn't seem to be a family entertainer or a coming-of-age relationship comedy. It is more of a whacky comedy wherein the female lead (played by Nabha Natesh) suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, catching her poor husband unawares. The 'Aprichitudu' touch is pretty obvious from the Trailer.
Oddball humour is not a laughing matter. Only extremely talented artists can pull off this brand of comedy. Nabha is hardly an acting talent who can be trusted to deliver madcap humour. She looks over-the-top in the trailer.
When the film hits the cinemas on July 19, we will know whether 'HanuMan' producers Niranjan Reddy and Chaitanya Reddy are going to deliver another hit at the box office. The Trailer, though, is a tad frustrating to watch.
