Kiran Abbavaram has resolved to help out film aspirants in Hyderabad. As per him, most of the aspiring writers, filmmakers and actors give up fast because they are too cash-strapped to support themselves. They deserve financial support to pay rents and buy food, which Kiran is willing to provide. His team will soon shortlist ten passionate candidates.
Hundreds reach Hyderabad every year in search of acting and directing dreams. It should be safe to say that 90% of them must be talentless. How do we know? Well, look at the passionate ones who manage to make movies. Don't 90% of movies flop at the box office? They flop because they are stupid. If those who make it to the final stage are this bad, why should anyone believe that those who give up are talented?
Kiran says that he knew 50 fellow aspirants in Hyderabad during his struggling days. Out of them, only two lasted. Well, it shouldn't be difficult for him to help out those 48 individuals before shortlisting fresh ones.
The film industry is notoriously unorganized. Even film schools like the one run by Annapurna Studios have failed to spot decent filmmakers. A studio like Ramanaidu Studios has not been able to hone filmmakers who can uplift the careers of Nepo kids. Look at the production houses that make one or two medium-range movies and fizzle out in no time. Even after setting up offices in Hyderabad and working with noted actors, they fail to find and mentor durable talents.
This is not to say that nobody deserves to be nurtured. But this nurturing has to happen in a systematic, constructive, productive manner. Sentimentalizing the struggles of low-effort idiots who waste their time gossiping about celebrities while sipping chai at Hyderabad's Krishna Nagar is going to be a waste of your resources.
