'AAY' is hilarious and rooted: Actor Narne Nithiin

'AAY', starring Narne Nithiin and Nayan Sarika in lead roles, is slated to be released in theatres with grand premieres on the evening of August 15 (full-fledged release is on August 16). Producers Bunny Vasu and Vidya Koppineedi have bankrolled the project on GA2 Pictures. In his latest interview, actor Nithiin speaks about the film. He talks about the vision of debutant director Anji K. Maniputhra, the film's highlights and more. The 'MAD' fame actor also shares an update regarding Jr NTR, his 'bava'.

It was Allu Aravind garu's suggestion that we go for 'AAY' as the title. 'Aay', the Telugu-language word, is often used by people from the Godavari region. Since our film is set in that region, we went for the title. It's a fun-filled entertainer involving three friends and that's why you see the label 'Fun Bath' on promotional posters. The very idea of using 'Fun Bath' as the tagline came from our director, Anji. Adapting to my character was not tough. I have a lot of friends who hail from the Godavari region. I get to listen to them and their dialect quite often. The director hails from Amalapuram. He has included some of his life experiences in making 'AAY' a rooted movie. The frustrations of the characters will be relatable.

August 15th is going to see a few other theatrical releases. We don't mind the competition because we have our audience base ready. 'AAY', together with its backdrop and fun factor, is a one-of-its-kind movie in a long time. The audience are surely going to have a blast watching it in theatres.

The story involves three characters, played by me, Ankith Koya and Rajkumar Kasireddy. We had fun bonding on sets. We had extensive discussions. We adhered to an interactive model. Nayan Sarika is a Marathi-speaking woman who got into the skin of a Telugu village belle.

Friendship transcends narrow identities like caste. That's what our film conveys. (The same is hinted at by the Trailer itself. Towards the end, an aged character checks on one of the lead men about the caste of his friend. He lies that the friend belongs to their caste).

I simply followed cues from the story in trying to get into the skin of my character. Aside from that, I didn't have to do anything else in terms of effort. The director's instructions and suggestions were constantly integrated into my performance.

As a young actor, I want to do only those movies that have a strong story. 'AAY' is a quirky story. The songs composed by the Ram Miryala-Ajay Arasada duo, as well as the background score, will entertain the audience.

Jr NTR garu enjoyed the hilarity embedded in the trailer. His feedback was positive and I am glad about it!

I have been asked about 'MAD 2'. Its shoot is going on at a fast pace. It might be released in theatres this year itself.
