Sridevi’s come back film ‘English Vinglish’ after 14 years sabbatical, is coming up in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. Directed by Gauri Shinde and produced by R Balki the film is all set to hit theaters worldwide on September 21st. Besides Sridevi in central role, other prominent actors in the film are Mehdi Nebbou, Priya Anand, Adil Hussain and Sujata Kumar. Apart from them, the Hindi version will see Amitabh Bachchan in a key role while Ajith did the same in Telugu and Tamil versions. As part of promotional campaign for ‘English Vinglish’, Sridevi and her unit members visited Hyderabad on Saturday and released the Telugu trailer at PVR Cinemas. Later a press meet was held there in which Sridevi, Priya Anand, director Gauri Shinde and one of the producers R Balki participated.
Sridevi while speaking, “I’m very happy to come back into films after a very long gap. I’m immensely happy to meet the media and people of Hyderabad too. Apart from liking the story narrated by Gauri Shinde, the main reason for agreeing to do this film is Balki being our good old friend and the encouragement and support that I received from my husband Boney Kapoor. Gauri designed my character brilliantly despite this being her debut film. I assume that ‘English Vinglish’ will be a good re-entry film for me in my career. So I take this opportunity to thank my producer Balki and my director Gauri Shinde for giving me a wonderful opportunity. I also thank Ajith for instantly accepting our request to do a good role in this film. I would also like to make it clear that the Telugu version is not a dubbed version since we have reshot many scenes to suit the Telugu nativity. Priya performance is excellent. I wish the film to become a grand success.”
Producer Balki said, “I hope the Telugu trailer will attract the audience. We are going to show the real emotion in this film. I love Telugu movies. ‘Eega’ is one of my favourite films. Mahesh Babu is my favourite star in Telugu.”
Director Gauri Shinde said, “My mother has inspired me to pen the script for this film. This film will showcase how important it is to know other languages when we visit other countries. I’m very happy to work with a great artist like Sridevi in my very first film.”
Priya Anand said, “I’m a great fan of Sridevi right from my childhood and I’ve no clue how many times I watched her film ‘Kshana Kshanam’ till today. I’m very glad for getting to share the screen space with her. It is a dream come true to actually meet Sridevi garu and get her autograph. I thank my director and producer for giving me this great opportunity. I’m confident that there would be a repeat audience to this film. Gauri Shinde dealt with the bonding between family and friends in a very beautiful manner."
