By saying that 'Court: State Vs A Nobody' is going to be on par with 'Balagam' in terms of emotional impact, actor Nani has set himself up for risky comparisons. 'Court', starring Priyadarshi Pulikonda in the lead, is presented by Nani and produced by his banner.
"When the movie was commissioned and Priyadarshi was roped in, the idea was to make Court in such a way that it became his second best movie. 'Balagam' will always be the best, I thought. But after watching 'Court', I feel this film can compete with 'Balagam'," Nani said.
'Balagam' achieved the impossible in 2023 by becoming a box office hit despite its melodramatic theme. 'Court', on the other hand, is a courtroom drama. Comparisons will surely be drawn with movies like Pink/Vakeel Saab and Jai Bhim. Also, courtroom dramas barely draw theatrical audiences unless they feature a star hero. Last year, Janaka Aithe Ganaka flopped big-time even though it was a courtroom comedy. Priyadarshi's Court might earn critical acclaim but will it get the kind of standing ovation Nani expects it to?
