Ten years after the release of Rani Mukerji's cop film 'Mardaani' (Hindi), here is a promise by Yash Raj Films. Its third installment will be made soon. Part 2 was released in 2019.
"Celebrating the feisty, daredevil cop Shivani Shivaji Roy and the spirit of Mardaani today. Thank you for a decade of love and appreciation for our beloved franchise. We are inspired... again... thanks to you," YRF said, describing the cop franchise as a unanimously loved one.
When the first part was released in 2014, the character Mardaani was described as "subverting gender-norms and showing how a woman can be the ace of the pack in a male-dominated profession". The expectations from the third installment are going to be extremely high. The new video (with footage pulled from the previous editions) suggests that the third installment is going to be pacy and tightly written.
Also featuring Vishal Jethwa, Jisshu Sengupta and Shruti Bapna, 'Mardaani 2' was directed by Gopi Puthran. The film received three Filmfare nominations.
