Teaser of Bad Girl draws flak for 'encouraging' premarital teen s*x

Bad Girl is the title of an upcoming Tamil-language movie produced by Vetri Maaran, one of the most acclaimed contemporary Kollywood filmmakers. Directed by Varsha Bharath, it is co-presented by Bollywood's Anurag Kashyap.

In the film's Teaser, we see the female protagonist as a school-goer who crushes on a good-looking male classmate/senior. At one point, she and her girl besties are seen saying that she would like to see all men dead but doesn't prefer executing the killing because she wants to have s*x.

The teen girl defies her parents, who shout at her for going on an ultra-liberal path. The film might not be promoting promiscuous thinking but the Teaser is anything but conservative. Many Netizens are upset with Bad Girl for trying to glorify premarital sex and showing it as the ideal.

Kabali and Kaala director Pa.Ranjith has endorsed Bad Girl, prompting many to allege that the film attempts to promote a politically motivated Dravidian narrative against the Brahmin community. The female protagonist in the movie appears to be hailing from an orthodox Brahmin family.
