After the immense success of Spotlight 1, Bollywood director and producer, Vikram Bhatt is all set to present the first ever digital musical series, Spotlight 2 only on Viu. Establishing Spotlight as a franchise for Viu, the second season of the series is a story that chronicles a renowned singer's downfall and his subsequent rise to fame.
Featuring in the show will be Karan V Grover essaying the role of the main protagonist – Vicky. He is a young musician, extremely talented and with his melodious voice had won the hearts of the entire country - but then something goes wrong? Vicky climbed the ladder of success in the music industry in a very short span of time but his success got to his head and soon his ego led to a downfall. In steps his ex, who he had abandoned on his way to success. What happens to Vicky, does he make it in his career? Is he able to connect back with his music and win back the hearts of his fans, is what the show encapsulates.
While the first instalment featured ten episodes, Spotlight 2 will be a thirteen episode series illustrating the journey of this rockstar. This first Indian musical digital series will showcase music by popular artists such as Harish Sanganay and Ankit Sharma who have previously rendered their soulful voices for Gehraiyaaan and Spotlight 1.
Illustrating his love for all things dark and exploring genres beyond horror with a franchise like Spotlight, Vikram Bhatt says, "I create stories that people want to watch. When the first instalment of Spotlight received with such a raving response, Viu and I were confident that we will create another season. The theme of Spotlight remains common, it traces the trials and tribulations behind reaching stardom. In the first attempt we traced the journey of a Bollywood starlet while Spolight 2 narrates the journey of a musical sensation who is flawed and an addict but in the end he makes the audience love and care for him. I always like to explore genres and we are extremely delighted to make the first musical for a digital platform."
Spotlight 2 is all set to premiere in October on Viu.
