After Prashanth Neel started working with non-Kannada actors, Kannadigas got dissatisfied with him. Kannada Netizens have openly questioned his choices. "Why work with Prabhas and Jr NTR? Why not with Yash and Upendra and other Kannada actors?"
It is now the turn of Tamilians to make similar complaints. With Atlee teaming up with Allu Arjun, a certain narrative is on the surge. Lokesh Kanagaraj and Nelson Dhilipkumar will be teaming up with Prabhas and Jr NTR, respectively. So, two more Tamil filmmakers are going to join Atlee. Shankar has already worked with Ram Charan.
On the other hand, the three top Telugu filmmakers (read SS Rajamouli, Sukumar and Trivikram) have not worked with Tamil heroes so far.
In a way, this shows the scarcity of talent in Kollywood. Tamil heroes, almost all of them, have stopped showing real effort. Thalapathy Vijay's approach is the same for any role - be it a football coach or a politician or a cop. He can barely show variations. Ajith and Suriya have shown a spark but they don't offer anything that Telugu superstars don't. Dhanush and Vikram have the calibre to attract Telugu filmmakers but they don't suit pan-India behemoths of the kind Atlee and Lokesh will be making with Telugu superstars.
No wonder Tamilians want to make pan-Indian movies with Telugu actors but Telugu filmmakers are not interested in Tamil heroes.
