Loveyapa: Critics dislike Aamir Khan's son, Sridevi's daughter

Loveyapa, the Bollywood movie, was released in theatres today. Starring Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan and Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor as the lead pair, the film is a Hindi remake of Tamil hit Love Today. It is directed by Advait Chandan.

The performances by the lead pair have received mixed reviews. "The leads here try hard. Really hard. Junaid’s deer-stuck-in-headlights expression is perpetual, as is Khushi’s 120-watt smile. There is certainly scope for improvement. Khushi specifically gets the hang of emotional scenes right," Hindustan Times opined in its review. NDTV wrote, "Neither Junaid Khan nor Khushi Kapoor is spectacular - the two roles have their limitations and both actors do well to stay within them - but they prove equal to the task."

The Tamil original was a blockbuster hit. Made on a shoestring budget, it grossed more than Rs 75 Cr. The Hindi remake, though, seems to be floundering at the box office. As per Indian Express, the Junaid Khan-Khushi Kapoor film lacks sizzle, and wraps important stuff in oodles of banality.
