Double Standard: Producers OK with Misleading Trailers, but Slam YouTuber Reviews

Speaking to the media on Thursday, actor and Movie Artists Association member Siva Balaji said that YouTubers are reviewing even Teasers and Trailers nowadays. "What do they get to know from a Teaser? These YouTubers make fun of Teasers to gain followers," Siva Balaji said.

Most films close theatrical business deals precisely on the basis of Teasers and Trailers. Producers make sure that the Trailer cut is solid so that some amount of buzz gets generated in trade circles. It is a marketing gimmick.

Trailers feature the best shots/dialogues/scenes from movies. Ninety percent of the movies fall short of the promise made by their good Trailers. The gulf between Trailers and movies is well-known to the audience.

If producers can market their films to distributors by releasing misleading Trailers, why can't YouTubers review the very same Trailers/Teasers? If filmmakers can't manage to bring out a decent Trailer, they shouldn't even be making movies in the first place.

The insecure mindset exhibited by Tollywood folks is obvious. These guys are scared of the reach of the non-traditional media. Plain and simple!
