The buzz in the Mumbai film media is that Nani's 'Gang Leader' would be remade in Hindi. Saif Ali Khan will be reprising Nani.
'Gang Leader' was not only average but also had too many plot conveniences. It was not a smart screenplay at all. Only Anirudh Ravichander's music and score, coupled with Nani's image, helped it scrape through.
The Hindi audience base is far more discerning when it comes to action comedies with doses of thrills. They expect the screenplay to be tight. Just a neat premise is not enough for them. In the light of recent experiences with remakes, Bollywood has been taking cautious steps.
Nani's 'Gang Leader' will have to be adapted instead of being remade. Even then, it is doubtful if Saif Ali Khan will be able to be a magnetic force the way Nani was in attracting the audience to theatres. The Telugu film was directed by Vikram K Kumar and starred Priyanka Mohan as the heroine.
Saif Ali Khan was recently seen in Jr NTR's 'Devara' as Bhaira. On the other hand, Nani is doing 'The Paradise' and 'Hit 3' currently.
