Dhanush and Shruti Haasan starrer Tamil film ‘3’ with a tagline ‘Kolaveri’, directed by Rajnikanth’s elder daughter and Dhanush’s wife Aishwarya was recently released in Tamil and Telugu. Natti Kumar bought the Telugu rights of this film and recently released the film with the same title on R K Production Pvt Ltd and Wonder Boy Films Pvt Ltd., with S K Theaters Pvt Ltd., as its presenter. However, on incurring heavy loss at the box-office, producer Natti Kumar organised a press meet and expressed his feelings.

He said, “Everyone is aware that I bought the Telugu rights of ‘3’ movie for a fancy figure. I bought this film hoping for good results as it was the first directorial venture of Rajnikanth’s elder daughter Aishwarya. Although the movie was good, the film unit did not cooperate in the film promotion. But still we did our best in promoting the film. Still having bought the Telugu rights my distributors and I incurred heavy losses. When we informed this to Dhanush he reacted in a positive way. However, there were some rumors in the social networking websites stating that Rajnikanth would take the responsibility and compensate the losses. He is no way associated with this film. ‘3’ producer Kasturi Raja is just ignoring this fact. He produced this film with Rs 6.50 crores and did business for about Rs 50 crores. I can only bare 20% loss for taking the Telugu rights. It’s not possible for me to bare 80% loss. So when we discussed this issue with hero Dhanush, he asked us to send the accounts in order to take responsibility and pay us back atleast some part of it. We are very happy about his positive response. I bought the Telugu rights for Rs 6.50 crores and got Rs 1 crore from the box-office share and Rs 1.25 crores from the satellite. The remaining was a huge loss for me.”

Nizam distributor Lakshman said, “I was doing business as distributor for the past 30 years and distributed more than 150 films. I bought ‘3’ for Rs 1.44 crores but earned only Rs 60 lakhs leaving me with Rs 80 lakhs loss.”
