KPN Chauhan of 'Gor Jivan' fame has established a new film industry that will be the voice of the crores of Banjaras in the country. The industry will bring out movies that reflect the voices, sensibilities and narratives that are rooted in the Banjara culture.
Chauhan is of the view that if ten crore Telugus can have a film industry catering to them, if four crore Kannadigas can have an industry catering to their tastes, if two crore people can have a separate industry making Bhojpuri movies, then Banjaras, who are more than 15 crore in number across the country, too, must have a film industry they can call their own.
"Banjara movies don't find encouragement in the existing system. Our films find it hard to secure a theatrical release. We are releasing a box-office app on the lines of Amazon Prime and Netflix. Banjaras will now be able to watch the movies they want on the OTT app," Chauhan said on Monday.
