Speaking at an event today, Dil Raju made an interesting revelation. He stated that SS Rajamouli doesn't charge any fee upfront for doing movies. Probably, this started with Eega. The celebrated filmmaker opts for the revenue-sharing model, Dil Raju said.
The Tollywood producer also stated that Game Changer was started (in 2021) on a similar model. He didn't say anything much about the movie's budget, which many believe crossed the Rs 350 Cr mark. From his words, it can be deduced that Ram Charan and Shankar eventually got fat paychecks. The movie didn't make any profits. On the other hand, it made heavy losses.
"As the budgets of movies shoot up, everyone is going to adopt the revenue-sharing model. It's inevitable," Dil Raju said today.
The soon-to-be-released 'L2: Empuraan' has been made as a pan-Indian movie. Mohanlal and actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran haven't charged anything for doing the political action thriller. They will get a share in profits. In the era of mega-budget movies, superstars and directors will have to inevitably follow the L2 and Rajamouli model. That's what Dil Raju said today.
