This February 7th and 8th, an interesting clash is going to happen at the box office. A big-star re-release and a political drama will be released on two consecutive days.
Pawan Kalyan's 'Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu' is up for re-release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from February 7. The Puri Jagannadh directorial, upon its release in 2012, was met with protests by the pro-Telangana agitators. It was deemed to be anti-statehood agitation. Back then, the film worked only because of the explosive dialogue and Pawan's characterization. Otherwise, it was a basic, banal dud.
On February 8, 'Yatra 2' is going to hit the cinemas. This is a pro-YSRCP film that is likely to steal a march over Pawan's re-release in Andhra Pradesh. The film, starring Jiiva as Jagan Mohan Reddy, is directed by Mahi V Raghav. Mammootty will be seen in a cameo as YSR. The film is backed by V Celluloid.
