'Indian 2', Chiranjeevi's disaster have a commonality

'Indian 2' was supposed to be a shelved project after the pandemic. Lyca Productions had lost interest in the Kamal Haasan-starrer. 'Vikram' becoming a blockbuster made director Shankar and Red Giant Movies' Udayanidhi Stalin believe that 'Indian 2' will rake in excellent pre-release business deals if revived. The project was revived forthwith, with unreal confidene. Apparently, the producers entered a safe profit zone before the film's release. It's the distributors who lost monies big-time.

'Bholaa Shankar', too, was a shelved project before the staggering success of 'Waltair Veerayya' made AK Entertainments and Chiranjeevi believe that the Meher Ramesh directorial stood a chance. The revival of the project might have dented the financial position of producer Anil Sunkara's banner a bit instead of bettering it.

The two big-ticket films were better laid to rest. In the case of Kamal Haasan, it is a double whammy. There is no 'Bholaa Shankar 2' but there is 'Indian 3'. Tragic!
