Beyond Hero's Paycheck: South films' visual mediocrity is glaring

The visuals of 'The Greatest of All Time' should have been much superior, considering that the film's budget is 380 Cr. The visuals of 'Indian 2' were atrocious, if the rumour that its budget was more than Rs 400 Cr is true. In the past, the budget of 'Agnyaathavaasi' was rumoured to be more than Rs 100 Cr. Its visuals were poor. The budget of 'Pushpa 2' is said to be about Rs 500 Cr. One hopes its visuals justify the budget.

Considering that Thalapathy Vijay charged Rs 200 Cr for 'The GOAT', Rs 160 Cr was spent towards production (the remuneration of others must be around Rs 20 Cr. Do you see that quality? Bollywood films come up with superior quality with the same level of budget.

Why do most southern films fail to mesmerize the audience with their visuals despite claiming to be visual spectacles? The easy explanation is that most of the budget is eaten up by the hero's remuneration. If the director is a top-tier one, his remuneration, too, would be massive. So, less than half of the budget goes towards production.

Perhaps, two more factors need to be considered here. 1. The VFX companies are not shoring up their output. 3. The quality of technicians down south is not impeccable.
