The Karate Kid, the American martial arts drama film, was originally released in 1984. The news is that it is going to be re-released in India to cater to the franchise's fans.
The re-release date is March 21st.
The Karate Kid, directed by John G Avildsen, is the first installment in the Karate Kid franchise. Starring Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue, and William Zabka, it tells the story of Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), an Italian-American teenager from New Jersey who moves with his widowed mother to the Reseda neighborhood of Los Angeles. Daniel encounters harassment from his new bullies, one of whom is Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), the ex-boyfriend of LaRusso's love interest, Ali Mills (Shue).
When it was released in 1984, it grossed $100 million in the US and Canada. At that time, it was one of the highest-grossing films of the year and was considered Hollywood's biggest sleeper hit of the year.
The Karate Kid had a new edition in the franchise, released originally in 2010. The second edition will be re-released in India in the month of April.
Finally, Karate Kid: Legends (first release) will be released across the world on May 30th this year. So, two Karate films will be brought before the audience before Karate Kid: Legends.
