Speaking at a film event on Sunday, Chiranjeevi made a curious remark. He stated that Praja Rajyam Party has evolved into Jana Sena Party. He suggested as though PRP is the spiritual mother of Pawan Kalyan's party.
PRP was established in 2008, months before the 2009 Assembly elections in then-united Andhra Pradesh. It had the potential to dislodge the Congress party from power. It ended up dividing the Opposition vote and benefited the ruling party. Two years later, PRP was merged into the Congress party, concluding Chiru's journey as an independent political leader.
In 2014, Pawan Kalyan formed a new party, calling it Jana Sena. While the new party flopped in two successive elections, it was voted to power in 2024 as part of the TDP-Kootami. Chiru didn't campaign on ground for Jana Sena in 2019 and 2024. He appealed to the voters to vote for Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram but it was a mere formality.
In this context, Netizens are accusing Chiranjeevi of owning Jana Sena only because it is in power. Megastar's supporters, however, argue that Pawan Kalyan holds Chiru in high regard and that he honed his leadership skills as a PRP leader in 2009.
