Ram Charan Tej is now a new wonder in Tollywood. After his performances in ‘Chiruta’ and ‘Magadheera’, there is a large fan following for him with expectations sky high. Both these films are of mass appeal and naturally everyone will attempt to cash in on the mass following. But ‘Bommarillu’ Bhaskar saw a different and wanted to experiment him as well as project him as a boy next door. Aptly supported by Ram Charan and Nagababu, Bhaskar’s confidence multiplied many folds. With his first two films Siddharth’s ‘Bommarillu’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Parugu’ getting good reviews, Bhaskar is betting heavily on Ram Charan who also has given two hits in his first two movies. So for both of them it’s nothing but a hattrick attempt. Nagababu, Ram Charan’s uncle took a break from acting and started his production under the banner Anjana Productions. Thus this is his first film as a producer.
Titled ‘Orange’, this movie is stated to be a youthful entertainer based on today’s way of living of an NRI or for that matter a boy’s experience in a foreign country. Australia has been chosen by the director that too when the newspapers were full of news on attacks on Indian students in Australia. Bhaskar claims to be getting inclined towards this subject based on his observation of the Indian students in Australia. His keen interest in observing their dawn to dusk life has given him the complete script. He has also ventured on different entertainments including sky diving.
The story is that of an Indian youth Ram Charan (Rohit) who happens to go to Australia on studies and comes in contact with Geneelia (Keerthi). As the love blossoms between them there is a flash back where Shazahn Padamsee (Rooba) plays a vital role. Enough Indian masala mixed with comedy from Brahmu and Ram Charan and anchor role by Tamil actor Prabhu, the movie is expected to churn out good interest.
Now coming back to Ram Charan, as already mentioned he has been projected as a lover boy for the first time which necessitates his different looks and a very different body language than what we have seen so far of him. The trendy outfits supported with the Australian atmosphere will no doubt make every Indian youth overseas feel himself in the character. Genelia needs no introduction for her performance while for Shazahn Padamsee it’s the 2nd movie in her life which was otherwise occupied by a modeling career. She initially appeared in a Bollywood flick ‘Rocket Singh’ and now she is working on 3 films in 3 different languages, one being ‘Orange’ in Telugu and the others are ‘Dil Tho Bachcha Hai’ in Hindi and ‘Kanimozhi’ in Tamil. These opportunities of hers appears that she is talented and capable.
Brahmanandam is expected to set the stage on fire in a character called Puppy and Prakash Raj as usual will remain in the minds of the people though he plays a very small role as a police officer in Australia. ‘Ashta Chemma’ fame Srinivas Avasarala and ‘Vennela’ Kishore have their roles set supporting comedy department.
Harris Jayaraj is in cloud nine with all his songs already having captured their places. With songs having become hit, it’s widely expected that the background music also will be a pleasant one. Two straight films ‘Vasu’ and ‘Gharshana’ can provide an idea about Harris Jayaraj’s capability, who is already flying high in Tamil industry. The credit towards songs success also goes to Vanamali who has contributed in the form of lyrics. Rama Jogayya Sastry and Surendra Krishna also contributed with lyrics. Like his father Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan Tej is also known for his dance movements. This time his dances are set to be with very casual steps guided by Baasko Kaizaar.
The movie which had a budget just touching that of ‘Magadheera’ facilitated the director a long stay in Australia followed by a short trip in Bangkok. This apart, Sahzahn Padamsee’s flash back was filmed in Mumbai. Camera by Kiran Reddy will be yet another highlight especially in the backdrop of Australian lush greenary.
Peter Haynes also has become part and parcel of many movies in India who has contributed for this movie by designing the train fights and casual fights on Australian roads. The high light of the movie is the sky diving in Sydney which was designed and executed by the Australian stuntman Harris Decholas.
While there are many movies in the US, Canada and UK backdrops, this movie on the Australian atmosphere of a student is expected to have a good reception among Ram Charan’s audience. His characterization, comedy filled action in the 2nd half combined with some spectacular sky dive scenes, casual fights in the train and roads is bound to tie the audience to their chairs. As the music has already done its path, it’s for the director and hero to prove their worth.
