"We shall overcome." Somewhere, Bappi Lahiri is the unlikely man singing that particular anthem of survival. After a long time, one of Bappida's renditions will enjoy pride of place in an eagerly anticipated movie. The film is The Dirty Picture, and the song, Ooh La La.
This is partly because director Milan Luthria and music directors Vishal-Shekhar were insistent that only Bappida could do justice to the song, set in a typical 80s milieu, like the film itself, a source tells us. And Bappida, who previously sang the Mumbai Nagariya number for Milan's Taxi Number 9211, is very grateful. Milan says, "Now my dream is to bring Vidya, Naseer and Bappida together for a stage show, maybe during the film's music launch in October."
