Malayalam actor Thilakan is no more. He was 77. He passed away on early this morning at 3.35 AM after suffering from cardiac problems. The actor collapsed during the shooting of a new film and was admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur on 21st August and later shifted to KIMS hospital in Trivendrum. After that he suffered with two heart attacks and pneumonia. Since then he was in critical condition due to which he had been put on ventilator.
Thilakan started his film career in 1973 with a Malayalam film ‘Periyar’ and acted in more than 200 films. The veteran actor won several prestigious awards including the Padma Shri in 2009, National Award in Best Supporting Actor category in 1988. Besides Malayalam films, he also acted in few Tamil and Telugu films.
