'Ramarao On Duty' would have been done by Akkineni Nagarjuna had everything gone well. Debutant director Sarath Mandava has revealed in an interview that the story was offered to the 'Bangarraju' actor after a veteran producer fixed a meeting between them. For whatever reason, Nag couldn't allot dates for the project. Since he couldn't wait longer, Mandava approached Ravi Teja.
