Four blockbusters this year have reportedly made Rs 800 Cr between them even though their collective budget was less than Rs 75 Cr. This is the claim that Bollywood filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri of 'The Kashmir Files' ('TKF' in short) is making.
In a social media post, the filmmaker said that the cost of production of his movie and three other movies ('Kantara', 'Karthikeya 2' and Madhavan's 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect') was meagre but the films went on to make many times their budget.
"Four small films with no stars, no marketing or distribution support - 'The Kashmir Files', 'Kartikeya 2', 'Kantara' and 'Rocketry' earned approx Rs 800 Cr at BO. The total cost of production of the four films is under Rs 75 Cr. Is Bollywood blind, deaf and dumb that they don’t understand simple maths and learn? (sic)," asked the Bollywood director.
Vivek can be trusted to know about the costs at which 'TKF' (his own film) and 'Karthikeya 2' were made. The latter, starring Nikhil Siddhartha in the lead, was produced by Abhishek Agarwal, who also produced 'TKF'.
'Rocketry' supposedly cost Madhavan more than Rs 20 Cr. 'Kantara', some rumours say, didn't cost Hombale Films more than Rs 20 Cr. Nobody would know about the actual budgets. Many figures that do the rounds in public domain are questioanble most of the time.
