'Kantara' has started streaming on Amazon Prime across languages. In a shocking twist, the popular song 'Varaha Roopam' that comes in the climax has been changed. The tune is new although the lyrics are the same.
The decision seems to have been taken to avoid headaches after a Kerala court said that the song is a copy of a private song brought out by Thaikuddam Bridge in 2017.
The song continued to be played in theatres even after the court order. It is believed that the OTT platform asked the makers to come up with a different tune so as to avoid accusations of copyright infringements in the future. Streaming sites follow a corporate culture and they don't want to take chances.
As for the audience, they will never get to experience the song in its glory on OTT.
