'Ponniyin Selvan' director Mani Ratnam and actor Kamal Haasan are doing an epic action drama titled 'Thug Life'. The film is slated to head to theatres on June 5 next year (2025).

A glimpse video released today suggests that Mani Ratnam is redefining his own style of treatment. Maybe, he has aligned himself with Lokesh Kanagaraj's grammar, the trendiest Kollywood thing of our times.

Mani Ratnam started out way back in the mid-1980s. It's astonishing that the auteur still continues to work and work inspiringly. Filmmakers who debuted two decades later grapple to adapt themselves to evolving trends. But Mani Ratnam always keeps himself abreast with the latest treatment styles without compromising on his artistic bent of mind.

'Thug Life' co-stars Simbu, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ali Fazal and Tanikella Bharani. Its music is by AR Rahman. Bankrolled by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, R Mahendran, and Siva Ananth, the film's cinematography is by Ravi K Chandran.
