MAD Square is the kind of sequel that was needed. Just going by the Teaser, the comedy quotient is going to be way more than what we saw in Tillu Square, also a sequel produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
When the names of film personalities (including that of producer S Naga Vamsi) is mentioned, it feels like director Kalyan Shankar is attempting an EVV Satyanarayana. A character asking a gas station attendant to fill up with whichever fuel is cheaper – petrol or diesel – perfectly captures the lighthearted, 'anything goes' humour of Jathi Ratnalu. Just that these are not Jathi Ratnalu but Dushta Grahalu who are there to enjoy the wedding of their friend (Vishnu Oi, the most under-appreciated comedian, plays the groom) but unwittingly end up creating a mess.
MAD Square ticks all the right oddball boxes. If the Trailer is equally funny, expect sensational openings. And the film itself could become a huge blockbuster if the laughs last even 45 minutes. Sangeeth Shobhan, Vishnu Oi, Narne Nithin, Ram Nithin, and Priyanka Jawalkar play the lead roles.
Bheems Ceciroleo has worked on the music. The entertainer, to be released in theatres on March 29, has cinematography by Shamdat and additional screenplay by Pranay Rao Takkallapalli.
