Lately, film projects and/or actors are running into troubles with the powers-that-be. Kangana Ranaut's Emergency struggled for months to secure a CBFC certificate. The tension between Pushpa 2 and Allu Arjun on the one hand and the Telangana government on the other is well-known. And now, another pan-Indian film has become a political target. This time, in Karnataka.
Last October, KGF actor Yash's Toxic was shot in a reserve forest in Bengaluru’s Peenya. For the shoot, some trees were felled after due permissions were sought. The officials who gave the permission have now been pulled up by Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre. As per him, the felling of trees was illegal. A show cause notice has been issued to the concerned authorities.
On the face of it, the team of Toxic have done nothing wrong, for they had sought the required permissions. In November last year, the Karnataka Forest Department registered an FIR against the producers of the film. The FIR alleges that they had axed trees illegally. The case continues to be pursued strongly by the government.
