Director Nag Ashwin has confirmed that Prabhas will enjoy the greatest screen space in Kalki 2, which is scheduled to hit the cinemas in 2028. He reasoned that the first edition didn't have much space for him because it was all about exploring and setting up the histories of Sumathi (Deepika Padukone) and Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan). As a result, Karna (Prabhas) had to be introduced only towards the end.
Now that Karna has been introduced (rather controversially because the antihero was elevated to the level of a hero), Kalki 2 will get to the actual business of Bhairava and Karna, both played by Prabhas. “The second installment will have more of Prabhas, as its plot centers on the two characters," the Mahanati maker said.
Nag Ashwin made his debut with Yevade Subrahmanyam ten years back, in 2015. It featured Nani and Vijay Deverakonda in leading roles. The director said that he was not aware of the ongoing online fan wars between the supporters of the two actors.
