After ‘Varsham’ and ‘Chatrapathi’, Prabhas is finding it difficult to position his coordinates without proper story and character. Now the producer BVSN Prasad, who gave hit through Prabhas in ‘Chatrapathi’ has again banked on him in this movie ‘Darling’. Similarly though acted in hit movie ‘Magadheera’, Kajal Agarwal is also yet to find a proper place in Telugu movies. She is banking heavily on this movie as a female lead for her success in the industry.
Another interesting aspect is that veteran Tamil actor Prabhu is playing a prominent role as Prabhas’s father. One may recall the song of 80s ‘Ninnukori Varanam…Varanam’ which fetched Prabhu a place in the hearts of the youngsters particularly women in Maniratnam’s ‘Gharshana’.
Karunakaran, who gave hits through ‘Tholiprema’ and ‘Ullasamga Uthsahamga’ is directing this film which will be his 4th film for Tollywood. His image as the director of romantic films will stand for this film also. So we can expect a 3 hrs of uninterrupted romance from Prabhas. This is an action cum romantic flick with prominence given to family values, a tailor made role for Prabhas indeed!
While music plays a vital role in romantic flicks, the duo Karunakaran-GV Prakash Kumar combo having already tasted success through ‘Ullasamga Uthasahamga’ have once again joined hands for this flick. As the film is based on soft love subject with youthful elements, GV Prakash has rendered a fascinating music that appeal particularly to the youth.
Cinematography was done by Andrews and it needs a special mention since the film was picturised in luscious green meadows at Switzerland and of course the interesting locations in Bangkok. This apart, the shooting also took place in beautiful Vishakapatnam, Araku and Hyderabad. The action sequences in Bangkok are said to be one of the main attractions of the film. Stunt Master Peter Hynes choreographed the fights.
Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra’s ‘Darling’ is releasing on April 23rd in worldwide theaters and with Prabhas and Kajal equally searching for best results one can expect their best performances in this film.
