Nayanthara's 75th film is entitled 'Annapoorani'. The tagline is 'The Goddess of Food'. You would be wrong if you concluded that the film is a devotional or religious film. It is a contemporary drama wherein the 'Jawan' actress plays an aspiring food entrepreneur.
The film's teaser shows Nayanthara learning about how to prepare Chicken Kebab while her father devotionally performs a ritual. Going by the teaser, Nayanthara belongs to an orthodox Brahmin family in the film where her parents consider non-veg food a taboo.
As per some Netizens, the teaser offends Brahmin beliefs by "glorifying" non-veg food in a highly orthodox setting for the sake of it. "This is Kollywood's obsession with Tamil Brahmins by constantly ridiculing their beliefs and lifestyle," a Twitter user wrote.
In the recent 'Love Today', too, a Homam ritual is ruined by a child in a pointless, forced scene. In Kamal Haasan's 'Vishwaroopam', the hero addresses the heroine as a Brahmin lady who is the perfect person to judge the taste of chicken.
