'Simbaa', starring Jagapathi Babu, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Gowtami and Vasista Simha in lead roles, will hit the cinemas on August 9. Its pre-release event was held on Saturday.

Sampath Nandi, one of the producers of the film, said that the Green India Challenge (also known as the Haritha Haram initiative) of the Telangana Government was the biggest source of inspiration behind 'Simbaa'. The 'Raccha' director happened to be challenged by Udaya Bhanu as part of the public awareness campaign. After her challenge, Sampath Nandi got to learn about then CM KCR's noble initiative. Even though 'Simbaa' is not a typical commercial entertainer, he felt that he must turn director Murali Manohar's idea into a feature film. He pitched the idea to producer Dasari Rajender Reddy, who played along.

The film's director is grateful to Rajender Reddy for his vision and noble thought behind bankrolling 'Simbaa'. He said that he is so happy to have made the eye-opening supernatural crime thriller. He said that Jagapathi's dedication levels are inspiring. Anasuya completely immersed herself into the project.

On the occasion, the makers remembered 'Vana Jeevi' Ramayya, who holds the record for planting one crore saplings. "School textbooks have lessons about him. The story of 'Simbaa' owes its inspiration to such men. I am going to undertake the task of planting trees in our village. On August 22, marking Chiranjeevi garu's birthday, one thousand saplings will be planted," producer Reddy said.

Anasuya thanked the audience for their love over the years. She thanked Sampath Nandi, director Murali and the other producer for the opportunity. She said that the cinematographer has captured her in a beautiful way.

Jagapathi said that 'Simbaa' is not a documentary but an engaging film whose core is connected to the green mission.

Former Rajya Sabha member J Santhosh Kumar spoke of the urgent need to plant saplings everywhere. He wished the team all the best. MLA Vijaya Ramana Rao said that 'Simbaa' conveys the indispensability of Nature. Raj Thakur wished for the film to become a major hit.

Actress Divi Vadthya of Bigg Boss Telugu fame, actor Vasista Simha, music director Krishna Saurabh, cinematographer Krishna Prasad and others were also present. 'Simbaa' also features Srinath Maganti, Anish Kuruvilla, and Kabir Singh.
