It is known that Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested at Bengaluru airport. Reportedly, she was found carrying 14.8 kg of gold worth more than Rs 12 Cr. Her step-father is a DGP rank officer named Ramachandra Rao.
Speaking to a news agency, the cop said that he is devastated. "The law will do its job. There is no black mark on my career. Like any other father, I was shocked and devastated when it came to my notice through the media. I was not aware of any of these things. I don't want to say anything more. She is not living with us. She is living separately with her husband," he said.
Ranya Rao's modus operandi has shocked many. "She made multiple trips. Used protocols given to bureaucrats. Hence was never physically frisked. A cop would escort her out everytime she lands and she would go back home in the government car," wrote Karthik Reddy, summarizing Ranya Rao's alleged methods.
Meanwhile, as per a news agency report, officers who searched Ranya Rao's residence on Lavelle Road, Bengaluru, have found gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and currency amounting to Rs 2.67 crore.
