Ahead of the release of 'Family Star' on April 5, producer Dil Raju clarified that there is no attempt by the film to showcase Vijay Deverakonda as a star. By this, he meant to say that the character played by the 'Kushi' actor won't be subjugated by the urge to pander to his stardom.
"Many of us have toiled hard for our families. In our own ways, we are family stars. That's what our film, which has been made for the family audience, seeks to establish," Dil Raju said.
To be sure, 'Liger' is the only film that pandered to VD's stardom at the cost of the story. And Puri Jagannadh's choice backfired terribly. 'Kushi' was rather random. In 'Family Star', we can hope to see VD the actor, much like what 'Geetha Govindam' did for VD. Director Parasuram Petla, however, can be expected to have inserted a few action scenes in the movie that co-stars Mrunal Thakur as the main lead and Rashmika Mandanna in a guest role.
