There is an online rumour gaining traction that Mahesh Babu was the original choice to play the Maratha king Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. Turns out that the gossip has no element of truth.
"Vicky Kaushal has always been my only choice for Chhaava. Even in my dreams, he has been my hero," director Laxman Utekar has been quoted as saying.
The successful filmmaker noted that any director could make a good film with an actor like Vicky. He said that Vicky was not just a great actor but also a wonderful human. He considered himself lucky because he had got Vicky for his film Chhaava.
