It is official. Daaku Maharaaj has pipped the previous record held by Veera Simha Reddy to become the biggest opening-day movie in the career of Nandamuri Balakrishna.

Released in theatres on Sunday, the movie set the box office on fire. Described by the makers of the mass action entertainer as a thunderous blockbuster, it grossed Rs 56 Cr on Day 1. The worldwide gross came on the back of excellent openings across territories. Ceded alone minted more than Rs 7 Cr.

Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas are looking at a 2 million gross in the US.

Directed by Bobby Kolli, Daaku Maharaaj also features Bobby Deol, Shraddha Srinath, Pragya Jaiswal, Sachin Khedekar, Urvasi Rautela, Shine Tom Chacko, Ravi Kale and several others. Besides Balayya's thumping performance, what has worked for the movie is Thaman's extraordinary and compelling background score. The cinematography and production design have also been loved by the audience.
